Bloordale Area Spring Clean-up:
April 21, 12 to 2:30pm | Drop off at Duffy’s 1238 Bloor Street
Free garbage bags and lemonade are waiting for you at Duffy’s 1238 Bloor Street, April 21, between 12 – 2:30. Filled bags and other collected garbage should be dropped off at the back-west side of Duffy’s no later than 2:30pm. The city will pick them up. Please pass the word and thank you for participating in Bloordale Area Spring Clean-up.

Street improvements are being planned for Bloor Street in 2012 and scheduled for construction in 2013, including road resurfacing, new sidewalks and other repairs as part of the City of Toronto official maintenance plan. There may be opportunities to improve design elements, introduce more sustainable tree pits, bike parking…
On April 26, 6:30 pm at St. Michael the Archangel, 212 Delaware Avenue, Bloorcourt BIA is hosting an information meeting. This will be an opportunity to find out about Bloorcourt’s proposed Streetscaping plan, Bloordale’s Bloor Street ideas and a chance to add your thoughts and suggestions. Councilors Layton and BailЛo will open the event and Kathyrine Rankin, a professor in planning at the University of Toronto, will introduce a research project on commercial streets in Toronto.
Water Up-grades on Bloor Street
Bloor St. property owners interested in up-grading their water connection from 3/4 inch pipe to 1 inch non-lead pipe need to apply soon so that it can be done prior to the Bloor Street re-surfacing. All information about this program, process, fees and link to the application – Water Service Replacement Program is available on-line at http://www.toronto.ca/water/leadpipes/. More specifically, the information related to the application process (and the downloadable form) is available at http://www.toronto.ca/water/leadpipes/priority_lead_wsrp/index.htm. Please contact Tracy Manolakakis (416-338-4809) of Toronto Water Service Programs for further information regarding the administration of the priority water service replacement program.
Ontario One Call
Bloordale BIA is signing up for Ontario One Call service. Ontario One Call can provide our BIA members with advanced notice before a utility company undertakes road and sidewalk construction that may damage street light conduits and other services.
BIG on Bloor Festival: More Good News
New this year – Cultural Institutions, Organizations and Collectives bring their programming to the street. On July 21 and 22, 2012 Culture Works will be a featured event of the BIG on Bloor Festival. Bloor Street from Lansdowne to Dufferin will be closed to traffic for two very full days and host 100’s of exhibitions, projects and event. More than 10 major cultural institutions have already offered to develop projects made especially for the festival.
• Sign up to participate in the BIG on Bloor Festival: rent a table, volunteer, be a sponsor. Artists can sign up for BAAF: Bloor Alternative Art Fair – its easy at www.bigonbloor.com/festival

BIG: Bloor Improvement Group

BIG is a coalition of local stakeholders – everyone is welcome to our information and planning meetings. The May 2nd BIG agenda will include: the BIG on Bloor Festival, Bloordale Street-scape plan, Nuit Blanche and others. This is an opportunity to meet others in our community, to participate in planning events, bring attention to concerns and celebrate achievements. We start with a general meet and greet and end with an open discussion.
